Mahmudullah missing the warm-up match due to 'slight back pain'

The Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah is going to miss the first warm-up match of his team which will be played against Sri Lanka on Tuesday because of slight back pain. The Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar told that he doesn't want to take any risks now before the start of the T20 World Cup.

He told that even with slight back pain, he won't include Mahmudullah in the tournament when there will be back-to-back matches. Bashar added that they can't afford even a minor risk so he will give him a bit of time to rest.

„Mahmudulla is a seasoned player, so he will recover and be able to prepare for the tournament.“ – he added. Bangladesh is going to open their campaign in the ICC men's T20 World Cup in 2021 against Scotland in Muscat, at the Oman Cricket Academy ground in October.

Regarding conditions, Bashar added that wickets are still fresh in Oman and he didn't hold a lot of matches but these are true wickets. Bowlers will get a good purchase and conditions will also be good for batting. Spinners don't get much of a turn.

Bangladesh and 2014 champions Sri Lanka are featuring in Round 1, with Ireland, Scotland, Namibia, Netherlands Oman and PNG in the seventh edition of the competition. The opening match of the T20 World Cup will be on October 17th, when Oman will lock horns with Papua New Guinea.
