Lost Ark - Review

Even 7 years ago, the game looked like an isometric MMO that would sweep everything in its path. The chance that this game will come to the western market then was just a dream, but today it is the reality we live in. After a long drought and a few mediocre MMO games, gamers finally can enjoy it. What is more important, this game is free.

Lost Ark is a Korean isometric action MMORPG that has been very popular in Korea and some other regions for several years. Just a small part of this game came to the west. For starters, this means choosing one of the five available classes: warrior, martial artist, gunner, mage, or assassin. Each of them has two to five added specializations, each of which again brings its own set of unique skills and playing styles.

What I will say right away when it comes to classes is that Lost Ark is one of the few games where my first choice in terms of the class was terribly difficult. Primarily because Lost Ark doesn’t have a traditional MMO role as DPS, healer, and tank.

I definitely recommend playing with more classes because although you have to go through the story with each one, the game gives you at least two powerpoints when you raise the first character to 50, with which you can instantly raise two more characters to the maximum level.

If that’s not already clear, the fight is definitely Lost Ark’s greatest strength and what will keep most players going even with all the ailments of the MMO genre that are largely present here as well. The skills look great, they sound powerful and there is nothing better than immersing yourself in a horde of enemies and turning them into a bloody mess with one attack.

Things are pretty easy to control using a mouse and keyboard and you definitely won’t need some macro pad or 75-key mouse to play effectively.

As for the structure of the game itself, Lost Ark has an MMO filter. This is definitely an MMO game where its best part starts behind level 50. By entering the end game I was actually a little surprised by how much activity I have at my disposal and how dynamic the world can seem because of that. The bosses are at the level of World of Warcraft in the quality of performance, so in addition to being visually very impressive, they often look for all the tools available to a particular class to successfully master them.

As far as PvP is concerned, all players who jump into this segment will find themselves in an equal position because the equipment does not affect the statistics.

Ultimately, I can say that Lost Ark is a pretty polished action MMO, and if you give it a chance, it could become your new obsession for the next few months, if not years. It offers one of the best action combat systems in an MMO, brings a bunch of content either solo or in multiplayer since the content is already provided, and best of all - it's all free and will only cost you your time.
