Covington suffered serious injuries after Masvidal sucker punch

After his last Octagon appearance in March of 2022, Colby Covington was uncharacteristically quiet. He was hoping that he will put to rest his heated rivalry with his former best friend Jorge Masvidal. Covington has battled it with Gamebred in their five-round main event en route, to the victory through a unanimous decision. Still, that was not the end of the saga between the par of the two-time Welterweight title challengers.

In the same month, Masvidal allegedly assaulted Covington and sucker punched him outside the Steakhouse in Miami. Covington claimed that since that moment, he suffered brain damage, and a broken tooth and got his Rolex damaged. According to another top Welterweight, Gilbert Burns who hopes to face the 'Chaos' next, he was hearing that severity of Covington's injuries is much worse.

Burns told the media that rumours have it that he's really bad, having a neck injury, injuring his nerves really bad and he even lose a bit of movement in his neck. He broke his jaw again and had to go to surgery which didn't go too well. So far, he's not training and if everything goes okay, he will be back only in March. However, everything regarding his recovery is still quiet. Aside from Covington, Burns recently set his eye on the man from another side of this equation – Masvidal. Both of them appear to be down to fight and need to rebound from tough losses. So, it's just a matter of ironing out the details that will go forward.
