Wolves in search of Diego Costa replacement

Wolves got a chance to sign a free agent striker Andy Carroll after their primary target, Diego Costa, wasn't granted a work permit. After the ACL injury to a new signing Sasa Kalajdzic, the Wolves were prepared to offer Costa a one-year contract for emergency cover.

However, the former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker got his work permit denied. An appeal was made to try and secure the work permit for Costa, the Wolves have been offered a number of strikers as potential full-backs in case of a move for the 33-year-old completely breaks down.

He was released by West Brom this summer, after only six months with the club, where he scored three goals in 15 Championship outings. Ze Luis, who was formerly on the Spartak Moscow team is another on the Wolves' radar while ex-Burnley man Matej Vydra, along with Norway international Fredrik Gulbrandsen were also been offered to Bruno Lage's side.

A number of free agent strikers are still available to sign and many of them are coming with Premier League experience that including the likes of Dieumerci Mbokani, Oumar Niasse, Simone Zaza, Daniel Sturridge and Yaya Sanogo. Wolves managed to get just three goals across their six Premier League games so far, which was the lowest return in the division.
